Dr. Elliott Roberts is the founder and CEO of NuWa Solutions, a Maine-based ocean carbon removal company developing infrastructure-integrated ocean alkalinity enhancement projects.
A chemical oceanographer with more than 15 years of experience in marine science and extensive expertise in marine carbonate chemistry, ocean acidification, carbon cycling, and coastal biogeochemistry, Elliott’s research has encompassed marine environments across the Gulf of Maine, U.S. East Coast, Gulf of Mexico, North Pacific, South China Sea, and eastern tropical Atlantic.
Through NuWa, he is working to translate rigorous ocean science into safe, verifiable, and scalable coastal carbon removal deployments.

NuWa takes its name from the mythological figure associated with restoring balance after disruption by using natural stone.
For NuWa Solutions, the name reflects both the source and the purpose of the work: using mineral-based alkalinity to support ocean carbon removal while balancing climate value, scientific integrity, environmental care, and local trust.
The goal is not simply to scale carbon removal. The goal is to help it scale responsibly.
